Mobile processor manufacturer might just present us with the first device based on Google’s Android mobile operating system by next week in Mobile World Congress Expo at Barcelona.

The device will be running on a processor made by ARM itself. The Android platform has not been shown off much by Google so everyone must be expecting to see the Internet oriented Open source OS in action.

Android is projected to debut in the second half of 2008 and ARM might be getting ready to take the credit for the first manufacturer.HTC , LG, Motorola and Samsung has show their interest in developing Android based phones. The Android makes it possible to browse Internet as if its a PC , it has an inbuilt full page browser like iPhone and will be based on Google’s web services like Maps , Gmail and Search. The main aspect of android is that Google wants it to run as Open Source Code making it possible for any one to write or modify applications in it.

For those who don’t know about android . Read through:

Android was built from the ground-up to enable developers to create compelling mobile applications that take full advantage of all a handset has to offer. It is built to be truly open. For example, an application could call upon any of the phone’s core functionality such as making calls, sending text messages, or using the camera, allowing developers to create richer and more cohesive experiences for users. Android is built on the open Linux Kernel. Furthermore, it utilizes a custom virtual machine that has been designed to optimize memory and hardware resources in a mobile environment. Android will be open source; it can be liberally extended to incorporate new cutting edge technologies as they emerge. The platform will continue to evolve as the developer community works together to build innovative mobile applications.

The Santa Rosa platform based Tablet PC , Asus R1E was approved by FCC which means that it will be hitting the Asus Site in a few days.Asus R1E is a 13.3 inch convertible tablet PC can be used just like a normal laptop or else it can be folded into a tablet PC style. Its having Intel Core 2 Duo Processor [ T7500/ T7300 /T7100 ] under its hood.

Its not a ‘killer’ in looks but its small size surely helps.4GB of memory is the maximum RM it can possess while a 160 GB Hard drive is present. The on-board graphics , [tag] Intel [/tag] GMA X3100 is Vista Compatible , which is the OS shipped with the R1E.

Other Features of [tag] Asus [/tag] R1E includes 802.11 a/b/g/n Wireless ( its having the [tag] Santa Rosa [/tag] Platform ‘n’ Wireless ) and [tag] Bluetooth[/tag] .But they managed to include a DVD Burner also.Price isn’t yet available but lets wait for that . shall we ? .

Palm is getting ready to release a smartphone which is lots smaller than its treo series. This Tuesday company named it as Centro , it was codenamed Gandolf and treo 800 till now.The Palm Centro runs on the new OS from Palm , Palm Garnet. The Palm Centro is said to be having a microSD card slot and an infrared port. Also the battery is assumed to be a 1150 mAh Lithium-ion type. More details after the jump.

Centro is also supposed to be available in two OS flavors , Windows Mobile Edition and the mentioned Palm Garnet. The Above picture is that of the Windows Mobile Version.

Here’s the Palm OS Garnet Version, this one is certainly less wider.

The Centro looks small but the keys in the full keyboard are a bit too small and adjacent to each other. In any case its the smallest [tag] Palm [/tag] [tag] Smartphone [/tag] reported to date and it has [tag] EVDO [/tag] enabled . And oh, the Smartphone is a having a touchscreen.

In US the phone will supposedly go for $99 with contract in with 90 Days from release exclusivity from Sprint.
